What is WebMCP?
WebMCP is a proposed web standard that lets a website describe safe, structured actions to a compatible browser agent while the page is open.

How WebMCP works
- The website registers actions. The page describes what each action does and the information it needs.
- The browser agent understands them. A compatible agent can inspect the descriptions instead of guessing at the interface.
- The user reviews the result. The action uses the website’s existing logic and sensitive decisions stay with the user.

Does WebMCP help agents discover a website?
Not before they visit. WebMCP helps an agent discover and use a page’s actions after the website is already open. It does not change search rankings, submit a site to a universal agent directory, or decide which website an agent should visit.

What WebMCP cannot do at PLAYTEX AI

- Unlock restricted features or use an export the current result and plan do not allow.
- Handle card details or complete payment for the user.
Current browser support
As of September 2026, WebMCP is a proposed standard available experimentally through Chrome’s origin trial, which began with Chrome 149. Browser and agent support can change, and PLAYTEX AI continues to work through its normal interface when WebMCP is unavailable.

Does WebMCP make a website rank higher or get discovered by agents?
No. It helps an agent discover and use a page’s actions after the agent has visited the page. Search rankings, citations, directories, and the decision to visit a website are separate problems.
Is WebMCP a chatbot?
No. It is a way for a website to describe structured actions. The browser agent supplies the conversation and decides whether an available action matches the user’s request.
Does WebMCP work in every browser?

Can a WebMCP agent buy something without me?
